In an attempt to explore the five senses that are so important to memory creation and impact, and therefore, branding and visual identity work, this infographic design brings together the memories of the twenty-five students of San Jose State University’s graphic design class of 2013. Using the metaphor of the abstract inner workings of the mind and its vague perceptions, this infographic details what we as a class saw, smelled, heard, tasted, and felt on a day-to-day basis. What did we remember?
One of the major parts of the project was the data collection process. To create this infographic, the first step was to create questions to survey each student in order to find a set of data from which I could digest and extract insights. After many sets of questions were created and asked, a chart was compiled to begin data refinement into the beginning of a data visualization.
After multiple rounds of refinement, the infographic resulted in a collective consciousness. The class as one mind and combined memories. The resulting print was 55 x 28 inches.
